SAAV

SAAV is a shallow water rescue craft. It is a high performance, environmental friendly hovercraft that can perform ground searches and inshore-to-shore rescue missions. It is equipped with efficient hydraulic steering system, seating, and water rescue kit. Its potential market is flood-prone areas such as cities in South-east Asia, and south eastern USA.

SAAV is a multidisciplinary project that involved a group of 8 mechanical engineers and industrial designers. Apart from creating and developing concepts and specification of the function and appearance of the hovercraft, technical calculations such as stress analysis, estimated maximum velocity, and buoyant force were also performed to enhance the practicability of the design. I was in charge of the overall structural design of the hovercraft, the design hydraulic steering system, and assembly of all the parts.
